From the creators of MillennialEYE and Eyetube, YoungMD Connect is a platform to connect aspiring and young ophthalmologists with their peers and mentors. Supporting the next generation of ophthalmologists isn’t new for BMC. Since the 2013 launch of MillennialEYE—a digital publication and online community designed exclusively for young ophthalmologists—BMC has invested in educating and connecting the future leaders in our field. Now, we’re taking our support to the next level with the launch of YoungMD Connect.
What Is YoungMD Connect?
YoungMD Connect is a platform for establishing meaningful connections and making informed decisions about the future. This forum was created based on feedback from ophthalmic colleagues and on market research conducted with rising leaders in the field. The results emphasized that peer-to-peer networking and mentorship opportunities in ophthalmology are lacking. Additionally, a majority of young ophthalmologists expressed interest in learning more about the range of options for fellowship; to fulfill this need, YoungMD Connect delivers access to academic and private practice fellowship opportunities. Providing young ophthalmologists and those in training with a platform to network and advance their careers is only the beginning. The YoungMD Connect journey is just getting started, and we'd value your feedback along the way. Of note, YoungMD Connect currently focuses on fellowship opportunities within the US and Canada. If you are not based in either of these countries but have interest in pursuing fellowship opportunities there, we encourage you to join.
Beta Group Members
BMC identified 34 individuals who represent the future of the field to be our beta testing group. This group received exclusive access to attend YoungMD Connect mentoring sessions and educational workshops before the site’s official launch, and they, in turn, provided feedback on their experiences and ideas around optimization.
